The Rustic is orange brown above with a black apex on each forewing and a broad, pale yellow discal band crossing the middle. The hindwing carries fine black lines and spots near the margin, and the underside is much paler than the upper side.
Caterpillars feed on the young leaves of Flacourtia and related trees at forest edges and in gardens, and adults fly fast and low, stopping to puddle on wet ground or visit flowers.
