Broad green-winged grasshopper
This grasshopper overwinters as an adult, so individuals that emerged the previous summer can still be found active on warm days in late winter and early spring.

The broad green-winged grasshopper is a stout, variably colored insect, ranging from light brown to green or yellow, sometimes with reddish stripes along the body. Its hind wings are tinged blue at the base with a darker tip, and its hind legs are noticeably thicker than those of the similar Aiolopus thalassinus.
It lives on dry, stony ground with patches of bare soil, along riverbanks, embankments and open grassland, where it feeds on grasses. Adults overwinter and can be found active across much of the year, from February to November over their European range.
